TBB applies to Council of State for cancellation of Erdogan’s “national and spiritual publication” circular

The Turkish Bar Association (TBB) has appealed to the Council of State with a request to stop and cancel the execution of President Tayyip Erdogan’s circular on ‘Press and Publication Activities’ published in the official gazette.

Erdoğan had “asked” the relevant institutions to take steps by using phrases such as ”Protecting our national culture against alienation and corruption”, in the circular.

Circular had caused reactions due to vague expressions such as “Core values, national and spiritual values, a series of symbols, the structure of society, our national culture” open to interpretation and criticism that it had to do with censorship had risen.
