President Erdogan makes comment about Turkish Lira: “The process has come to an end”

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, returning from Algeria, answered questions from journalists about the economy on the plane. Erdogan, who stated, “Our implemented disinflation program will likely lead to a real appreciation of the Lira. In other words, the process in which the Turkish Lira has depreciated in real terms has come to an end” drew attention to disinflation.

Erdogan expressed the following:

“The disinflation program we have implemented will likely lead to a real appreciation of the Lira. In other words, the process in which the Turkish Lira has depreciated in real terms has come to an end.

In summary, there is a high probability that the Turkish Lira will appreciate in real terms. Therefore, in the coming period, we will gain investor confidence with the healthy policies and structural reforms we implement, and we are still gaining it. This confidence will trigger fund inflows.

Fund inflows will lead to a real appreciation of the Lira. This will also accelerate disinflation and limit the downside risks to growth. Ultimately, we will grow reasonably and inflation will decrease under these conditions. We will enter a virtuous cycle, hopefully.”
