President Erdogan very concerned about the war in Gazze: “I’m not convinced it will end in 15 days”

President Tayyip Erdoğan has expressed great concern about the ongoing Israel-Palestine war. He said “We call on all influential actors in the region to take responsibility for establishing peace with the principle of there are no losers in a just peace.”

Hamas’ military wing, the Izzeddin Kassam Brigades, initiated a very powerful attack called “Aqsa Storm” on Israel on the morning of October 7th. Thousands of rockets were fired from Gaza towards Israel, and armed groups entered residential areas.

In response, Israel officially declared war and began heavy bombardment of the Gaza Strip. Over a thousand people have lost their lives on both sides, prompting Erdoğan to accelerate diplomatic efforts for peace.

ERDOGAN: WE CALL ON INFLUENTIAL ACTORS IN THE REGION TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY

During a joint press conference following his meeting with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer, Erdoğan made the following remarks, according to Turkish media: ”We call on all influential actors in the region to take responsibility for establishing peace with the principle of “There are no losers in a just peace.”

“It is imperative to refrain from steps that will escalate tension in the region, lead to more bloodshed, and deepen the problems. Pouring gasoline on the fire, especially targeting civilians and civilian areas, benefits no one. Currently, Gaza is being denied water. What about human rights? There’s no electricity, it’s not being provided. What about human rights?”

ERDOGAN: OUR HOPE IS TO STOP THIS WAR SOON AS POSSIBLE

“We are making efforts to mediate. Our hope is to stop this war as soon as possible, and let the region return to calm. Our concern is substantial. I am not convinced that it will end in one week or 15 days. Therefore, we are conducting our negotiations.”
