Price Increase on Alcoholic Beverages
Alcoholic beverages have seen a price hike. Following the announcement of producer inflation figures by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) on fuel, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products has increased. Additionally, alcohol brands have added their own price increases on top of the ÖTV hike, resulting in higher prices for rakı, vodka, and gin.
After TÜİK announced the six-month producer inflation figures, the ÖTV amounts for fuel, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products increased. Along with the ÖTV increase, alcohol brands added their own price hikes. According to the new prices, a standard 70 cl bottle of rakı has increased by 150 TL as of today, making the price 925 TL, depending on the brand and type. Similarly, a 70 cl bottle of vodka has risen to 619 TL, and a 70 cl bottle of gin to 679 TL.
A beer company also raised beer prices by 15-20 TL. Recently, June inflation figures were announced, and the ÖTV on alcoholic beverages, fuel, and tobacco products was automatically updated according to the producer inflation rate.
July Price Increase on Alcohol
With the automatic ÖTV increase linked to alcohol, tobacco, and fuel products, the ÖTV rate was increased by 19.49%, corresponding to the producer inflation rate for the first six months of the year.
With the new ÖTV increase, the average sales price of a 70 cl bottle of rakı, excluding the producer’s price hike, was expected to be around 853 TL. However, as of today, producers have added their own price increases on top of the ÖTV hike, raising the sales price to 925 TL. Additionally, with the automatic ÖTV increase following the inflation figures, fuel prices also went up yesterday, with diesel seeing a 2.07 TL per liter increase, gasoline a 2.21 TL increase, and LPG a 0.95 TL increase. Cigarette prices also saw an increase.
