Prof. Dr. Naci Görür stated in a live broadcast that he feared for the cities of Tunceli, Bingöl, and Erzincan, issuing earthquake warnings for these regions. He referred to past seismic activities, particularly highlighting a previous earthquake of magnitude 7.2 and emphasized that the fault lines in these areas have reached their periodicity. Additionally, he expressed concerns about a potential maximum magnitude 7.5 earthquake in Istanbul.

He highlighted the importance of paying attention to seismic activities in specific regions, such as Kahramanmaraş, Malatya, and Çelikhan, which were previously warned about after the 1999 earthquakes but were neglected, resulting in subsequent seismic events. He stressed the need to take preventive measures, especially in regions like Tunceli, Bingöl, and Erzincan, which are located directly on active fault lines.

Regarding Istanbul, Prof. Dr. Görür warned of a potential earthquake ranging from magnitude 7.2 to 7.5 along the North Anatolian Fault. He mentioned specific fault lines such as the Adalar (Princess Islands) Fault and the Kumburgaz Fault and emphasized the possibility of significant seismic events affecting the region.

In summary, Prof. Dr. Naci Görür’s statements underscore the urgent need for earthquake preparedness and mitigation measures in several regions of Turkey, including Tunceli, Bingöl, Erzincan, and Istanbul.
