OPERATION AGAINST MAYOR OF ISTANBUL

Abdulkadir Selvi a prominent journalist writing for pro-government Hurriyet newspaper made important evaluations about the Interior Ministry’s launch of a “terror inspection” of staff at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. He said, “As a result of this investigation, there is no such idea as dismissing Imamoglu or appointing a trustee to replace him.”

“As a result of this investigation, will Imamoglu be dismissed or will a trustee be appointed instead of him? Interior

Regarding the question, Minister Soylu said, “We have no nothing (no problem) to do with the municipality. We have a job to do with the fight against terrorism.” In my contacts in Ankara, I have not reached a conclusion that the goal of this operation is to remove Ekrem Imamoglu from office or appoint a trustee to replace him.”

SELVI went on to say, “So far, thousands of FETO and PKK members have been expelled from the public. Anyway, this kind of operation would backfire. It would create an “unjust treatment” perception about Imamoglu. This would naturally take him to the presidential nomination. There is no such goal anyway. Therefore, I see Imamoglu’s efforts to create a “victim of the terrorist operation” and jump to the presidency. I would like to underline it again. As a result of this investigation, there is no such idea as dismissing Imamoglu or appointing a trustee to replace him.”
