Proposal for investigation into forest fires rejected with AKP and MHP votes

The proposals of the CHP and the HDP for the investigation into forest fires were rejected at the General Assembly of the Parliament.

At today’s session of the General Assembly of the Parliament, the CHP and HDP introduced a group proposal to discuss research proposals that they had previously submitted separately today in order to determine measures to be taken against forest fires.

A CHP deputy said following in regards:

“While the days of hell that we experienced last year are still in our memory, our geography Mugla and Marmaris are burning with wolves, birds and trees in them again because of an administration that has failed to fight fires. Unfortunately, the area the size of 4035 football fields has been burned down so far. The heart of the country is beating in Mugla and the eyes of the Mugla are in the air, everyone is waiting for this fire to be extinguished with an effective struggle.

It’s been said “Every precaution has been taken”. Marmaris has been burning for three days. Look, because there is no night vision equipment, because there is no plane, Marmaris is on fire. Not only are the forests on fire; all the insects and living creature in the forests are burning alive. All the shame and blame is on you.

So, what does the Minister say? The minister says: “The planes will arrive on July 4, and the helicopter with night vision will arrive on July 1.” I thought you had taken all precautions? I thought all the precautions had been taken? It’s almost like the public is being mocked.

A day earlier, an authorized person was quoted to say, “The fire has been brought under control. But we are looking at the fact that the fire has been going on continuously for three days and Marmaris is on fire.”

After the speeches, the proposals of the CHP and HDP were rejected by the AKP and MHP votes.
