Proposal from the author of YENI AKIT newspaper: “The state should not allow financial anarchy”

An author of the YENI AKIT (New Treaty) newspaper has proposed to tax the income received in dollars, except for those engaged in import-export affairs and said: “if there are interests of individuals, there are also interests of 85 million people and the state. The state should not allow financial anarchy and should resolve this gangrenous wound not only with exports, but also with taxes”.

The decision of the Central Bank to cut interest rates by a total of 400 basis points in the last three months and the statements by President Erdogan that he would insist on a policy to reduce interest rates have caused a historic depreciation in the Turkish lira.

As the dollar which was around 8.30 TL in September, has settled above 13 pounds, the depreciation of the Turkish lira in three months has exceeded 57 percent. These increases have also triggered high inflation.
