Quora question: “Is Turkey a good country to retire to for an American?”

In reply to above question that could be of interest to many retirees, let us read what a retired American citizen settled down in Turkey has to share about advantages of living in this country.

ANSWER (by KEN CURTIS, an American living in Turkey)

“Turkey is an exceptional country in which to retire – especially for Americans.

Retirement is a time in which to relax and enjoy life at slower pace than the American way of life has evolved into. A time when each day can be embraced with with a ‘can do’ mentality rather than the ‘must do’ mentality that the current American lifestyle requires.’ A time of reflection on ones life and what the future holds in retiring from the rat-race and greeting each day as an opportunity to gain new experiences and perspectives.

There may be several locations that offer suitable amenities for this, but few can match the affordibility Turkey offers – as well as other huge pluses such as world-class cuisine, spectacular natural settings in which to reside and a first-class health care system.

Add to this a native Turkish population whose friendly hospitality is beyond compare. The entire south and west coasts are breath-taking with plenty of recreation, fine dining and land and sea sports activities.”
