After pandemic priorities of tourism have changed to hygiene and safety

Tourism experts describe the situation of the tourism sector, which is the lifeblood of Turkey, before and after the pandemic. Based on official data Turkey’s 2019 year tourism revenue was 34.520 billion dollars. In terms of the number of tourists arriving in 2018, Turkey ranked 6th with 45.8 million visitors among top ten. On the other hand, Istanbul ranks 8th among the most visited cities in the world.

The slightest contraction in the tourism sector affects almost all areas negatively and especially food, energy, logistics sectors. In tourism sector which seriously feeds the Turkish economy, concerned parties must quickly adapt to the transformation if Turkey wants to stand out after the pandemic and increase its income.

After the pandemic has started the concept of vacation has changed in a way and hygiene and safety have has become the benchmark of this sector. Experts say, “the key points of the future of tourism, digital tourism will be the use of technology, quick and easy cleaning. Design will also be more important. The desire for natural ventilation will enlarge windows and people will expect to see the external environment in the interior to continue with their lives. So moving from outside to inside will be the new trend. More individuality will be in demand with less contact thanks to use of technology. Individual travel will stand out more especially to places such as Cappadocia.”
