Rents have increased by 2-3 folds in Gaziantep, where thousands of people migrated from the provinces experiencing the earthquake due to the February 6 earthquake. It has become impossible to find homes even for astronomical figures in the city.

The struggle of citizens living in Gaziantep with house rents began when thousands of Syrians came to the city due to the war. Due to this unwanted migration, house rents suddenly increased by 2-3 folds. Later, as in the entire country, house rents in Gaziantep also saw another increase due to economic conditions.

5-6 years ago, the monthly rent of houses ranging from 750 TL to 1000 TL jumped to 2-3 thousand TL in an instant. With the negative reflection of the bad course in the economy on the real estate sector, house rents in the average districts of the city increased to 5 to 7 thousand 500 TL.

AFTER EARTHQUAKE, RENTS INCREASED BY 2 FOLDS

Earthquake on February 6, on the other hand, caused the house rents in Gaziantep once again to face an incremental increase. Gaziantep city center, which was destroyed only in Islahiye and Nurdağı, was flooded by thousands of earthquake victims who were homeless from Hatay, Adiyaman and Kahramanmaraş this time. For this reason, house rents started to be traded as 8-10 thousand TL in average districts and as 15- 20 thousand TL in districts where slightly higher income people live. However, as the number of houses did not meet the demand, it became almost impossible to find a house anymore.
