The Research Center of the Confederation of revolutionary Trade Unions of Turkey (DISK-AR) prepared a study in the 40th year of the September 12 coup, revealing how the coup process against Labor destroyed rights of workers and caused the working class to lose many benefits.

The report explained privatization policies whose foundations were laid on September 24 January and September 12 and began in the period of Ozal were applied even more ferociously during the AK Party government ruling. 60 billion dollars (88 percent) of the privatization of 68 billion dollars was done during the AKP period.

88 percent of privatizations were made during the AKP period. According to DISK-AR’s report, published in the 40th year of the September 12 coup, the minimum wage, which was 3.4 percent above national income per capita in 1978, fell below 40-45 percent of income per capita in 42 years.

Noting that the entire economic accumulation of the Republic had been destroyed in 40 years, the report also showed a dramatic meltdown in wages. The minimum wage which was 3.4 percent above national income per capita in 1978, has fallen to 40-45 percent below per capita income in the intervening 42 years.

According to the account, if the minimum wage had increased in parallel with per capita income after 1978, it would have been 4,507 TL in 2019. However, in the same period, the minimum wage was applied as TL 2 thousand 558.
