Infrastructure problem in Bodrum, most popular tourist center in Turkey, to be solved

Efforts are under way to solve the infrastructure problem in BODRUM district of MUGLA, which is one of the most popular tourist centers of the world and Turkey. Mugla Metropolitan Municipality has completed 23.5 kilometers of the infrastructure work as part of the 120 million TL investment for 160 kilometers long sewer line which will be the largest infrastructure investment in Bodrum’s history.

Officials note that Bodrum’s sewage problem is expected to be completely eliminated after the projects is accomplished. Infrastructure investment is being realized based on the protocol signed between the Metropolitan Municipality and the Ministry of Tourism.

Most of the infrastructure problem, which has become one of the biggest problems of Bodrum County, is being solved with TL 350 million portion of the 83 million euro loan provided by the World Bank and the Iller Bank. Around Turgutreis, Akyarlar and Gumusluk, where 30 percent of Bodrum’s people live, 160 kilometers of sewage work is being done with an investment of 120 million TL in the first place. Within the scope of the project, Akyarlar, Peksimet, Islamhanleri, Turgutreis, Bahçelievler, Geriş/Erdemil, Koyunbaba and Gümüşlük neighborhoods will receive sewer lines.

The mayor of Mugla made a statement in this regard saying, “We started to work by determining our services and projects according to the importance and urgency of our 13 valuable districts in Muğla. We have launched the largest infrastructure investment in its history for Bodrum, which has major deficiencies in infrastructure. Our beautiful Bodrum will no longer have infrastructure problems and will be referred to as the center of art, culture, beauty.”
