Resignations of doctors in SANLIURFA: Nine departments closed at the university hospital

The news of doctor resignations and violence in health has not stopped in Şanlıurfa. Nine departments of Harran University Research and Application Hospital that remain without doctors have been closed. Patients are reported to travel to the surrounding provinces.

In addition to Harran University Research and Application Hospital, there are two research and training hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health and 11 public hospitals in Şanlıurfa. Although the number seems to be a lot, even in research and educational hospitals, there are no departments listed above. The facilities of the hospitals in the districts are limited.

The departments closed at the university hospital, are all featured. Rheumatology, thoracic surgery, oncology, hematology, nephrology, pathology, pediatric hematology, pediatric oncology and organ transplantation.

CIRCULATION OF DOCTORS DOES NOT STOP

Speaking to media, the President of the Sanliurfa Medical Chamber said the city was an obligatory service zone and the doctors who finished their duties preferred to go elsewhere rather than stay, adding “There is a serious circulation of physicians.”

The chairman of the medical chamber said that there were many reasons for the doctor’s movement, adding: “Physicians are faced with the mobbing of managers. There are administrative difficulties. And this is due to the lack of merit of managers. It is necessary not to put pressure on them to hire doctors in provinces such as Urfa. Working environments should be improved. But there are no concerns about this. Administrators are putting pressure on physicians and health workers by using the areas where they are located. When their duties are over, the physicians either go private or move to different provinces.”
