Mutated Corona Virus

When many people thought “now that the vaccine is found, the end of the Corona has come”, all balances and predictions were turned upside down again, due to the mutation of the virus. It was officially announced that the mutated virus that originated in the UK had also come Turkey and was seen in many of Turkey’s cities.

The question at this point is whether the mutating coronavirus is a new / extra danger for the tourism sector, which has been looking forward to the days for normalization.

The situation around the world is no different. It is important to guess if this situation will affect the normalization process in tourism? The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), one of the most competent organizations in this regard, announced the effects of coronavirus on World Tourism in 2020 and its expectations from 2021.

According to the latest developments, UNWTO has emphasized that the hope that international tourist traffic can start in 2021 has been weakened and that 2019 levels cannot be reached before 2023.

According to UNWTO, the financial loss in tourism in 2020 amounted to $ 1.3 trillion and the number of visitors amounted to 1 billion.

The picture of course, is not heartwarming, but the world should still not give up. The reason is it will be much harder to revive the struggling sector and sinking companies than to keep them afloat.
