Lavrov says Russia ready for new measures

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov has noted that Russia will be insistent on the full implementation of their agreement on Idlib with Turkey. The agreement in question involves Turkey separating terrorists and opposition groups in Idlib from each other.

After a meeting with his Egyptian counterpart Sami Shukri in the capital Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said “In the Idlib tension reduction zone, the terrorist threat continues or even increases.”

Lavrov also said, “Moreover, they are making attempts to attack Russian forces” noting that terrorist groups that maintained their presence in the Idlib region of Syria continued their attacks against the Syrian army from the area where they were located.

It seems quite likely Idlib may lead to a very conflict between Turkey and Russia in the near future – if Russia’s wishes on this issue are not met by Turkey, in particular.
