Russian President Putin announces they will deploy nuclear weapons to Belarus

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in an interview with Russian state television that they would deploy nuclear weapons to Belarus in compliance with the obligations of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START).

Putin said in a statement, “Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko demands this, saying that we have close allies and deep relations.” We are not giving nuclear weapons to Belarus. The United States also does not give to its allies.

Actually, we’re going to do what they’ve been doing for years. They have certain allies and are preparing their carriers. Their crews are also preparing them. We decided to do the same thing. Without violating the obligations of the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, we supported our Belarusian friends and developed 10 aircraft to carry nuclear weapons accordingly. These 10 aircraft are ready to use such weapons.”
