Following serious issues faced by Russian citizens on Turkish Airlines flights to Mexico and other Latin American destinations, a new statement has emerged from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The problems encountered by Russian citizens attempting to board Turkish Airlines flights to Mexico and other Latin American destinations stem from pressure exerted by the United States on the Mexican government, according to Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov.

THE AUTHORITIES OF MEXICO ARE UNDER PRESSURE FROM WASHINGTON

Ryabkov stated to TASS, “I think it’s easy to guess the reason for this, especially regarding Mexico. The authorities of this country are under pressure from Washington.”

The increase in illegal immigration to the United States via Mexico in recent years has been an international concern. It’s not just Russians; citizens of Turkey and other countries also undergo strict document checks when flying with Turkish Airlines to Mexico.

On April 24, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) reported that Turkish Airlines had suspended ticket sales from Russia to Mexico and invited travel agencies to cancel tickets for such flights or change routes and flight dates by July 31st.
