Scholz and Macron say “the price will be heavy” for Russia

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron have warned that if Russia takes an aggressive stance towards Ukraine, the cost will be heavy. Macron stressed that Germany and France were acting together in the Ukraine conflict.

French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz met in Berlin. The two leaders held a joint press conference before the meeting. Pointing out that they were facing a difficult situation on the Ukrainian-Russian border, Scholz stressed that a large number of troops were deployed on the border and that “it was necessary to contribute to the development of the situation there in a different way than feared”.

“We have made it clear that military aggression in violation of territorial integrity will have consequences and a very high price,” Scholz said, stressing that they expected Russia to take clear steps to reduce tensions.”
