SCIENCE BOARD MEMBER EXPLAINS RESTRICTIONS TO COME

AKP leader and President Erdogan had said tougher measures could be taken if there is no targeted improvement in the two-week period. Prof. Dr. ILHAN, member of  The Scientific Council of The Ministry of Health  has announced new measures to be taken if cases do not fall.

Prof. Dr. ILHAN, Dean of Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Head of the Department of Public Health and member of the Scientific Board of the Ministry of Health said the number of cases should go down and shared following:

“We have been expressing this since the beginning of the process; there is little chance of controlling anything before the number of cases decreases. You know, some of the cases become sick, some of them become seriously ill after 10-15 days. Unfortunately, some of them lose their lives between 10-30 days, on average. Our first job for this is to reduce the number of cases.”

IT IS NECESSARY TO SET A GOAL OF 50 THOUSAND FIRST AND THEN 40 THOUSAND

Regarding his expectations within 2 weeks, Prof. Ilhan said following:

“our current expectation is after 15 days cases should fall below 50 thousand as a priority, then it is possible to wait for figures such as  below 40 thousand. The effect only occurs between 7-14 days when a restriction is implemented. This is possible provided our citizens follow the rules. At the same time, one in 4 people over the age of 65 have not had the vaccine. It is possible to go further down provided they are vaccine too; We need to target first 50 thousand, then 40 thousand. It is necessary to choose achievable goals to go ahead when we accomplish them.”

NEXT STAGE IS CLOSURE OF SHOPPING MALLS, HAIRDRESSERS

Prof. Dr. ILHAN explained the new measures that can be taken if the cases do not fall within 2 weeks and continue to increase.

“Earlier, we all had these experiences together. The next stage may be the closure of shopping malls, the closure of hairdressers and barber salons. The children may not go to school. The restriction on employment in the private sector and public sector may be thoroughly increased.

If we do not follow the rules, we can come to the situations we lived in April and May that we do not want to experience again. Our losses can increase too much. Let’s say we follow the rules and our number of cases see below 10 thousand after 15 days or 1 month. Even then we have to be cautious, we have to strive to follow the rules. We have to get our vaccine so that we don’t come to these days again. So to speak, we have to get used to living with coronavirus.”
