Scientist: Mucilage mud was found on the seabed in the same amount as last year

MUSILAGE SEA BOTTOM MARMARA

Dean of the Maritime Faculty of Bandırma Onyedi September University Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sari there was mucilage mud on the seabed of Marmara in the same amount as last year.

The professor who conducted an investigation in the Sea of Marmara said “I saw with regret that a large part of the mud was still continuing its effect at the bottom of the sea.” Comparing the two images he took on the same days last year and this year, Prof. Dr. Sarı said, “We can say that the two images are no different from each other. The mucilage covered the bottom of the sea like a quilt. This mucilage sludge damages the organisms on the seabed and their habitats.”

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sari, dean of the Maritime Faculty of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University made a dive at a depth of 22 meters in the Gulf of Erdek, for investigations.

SARI shared that mucilage mud seen last year in October in the Sea of Marmara continued the same way on same dates this year, noting that the organisms on the seabed damaged the sea habitat.
