RAIN AND STORM IN ANKARA

AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority) has warned citizens against the expected heavy rainfall and storms nationwide on Sunday, November 19. According to AFAD’s statement, “Meteorological warnings have been issued for a total of 72 provinces, including Orange alert for 41 provinces and Yellow alert for 31 provinces.”

According to the latest evaluations by the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM), the country is expected to experience mostly cloudy weather, except for the Iğdır and Van regions, with widespread rainfall. Rainfall, including rain and showers, is expected to be accompanied by snow and sleet in the higher elevations of Inner Aegean, Inner Anatolia, the highlands of Western and Eastern Black Sea, the northern and eastern parts of Eastern Anatolia, and the highlands of Kırklareli, Bursa, and Bilecik. Strong, occasionally very heavy, and severe precipitation is expected in Marmara, Western and Eastern Black Sea, the western part of Inner Anatolia, Eastern Mediterranean, southern and western parts of Eastern Anatolia, Southeastern Anatolia, and the surrounding areas of Çorum, Samsun, Giresun, Gümüşhane, and Bayburt.

A noticeable decrease (2°-10°C) in temperature, below seasonal norms, is expected in the northern, inner, and western regions due to rainy weather, while significant changes are not expected elsewhere. The wind is expected to be generally from the south and west, becoming moderate, locally strong, from the north and northwest in Marmara, the Aegean Coast, and the Mediterranean over time. In the northern part of Marmara and the western coast of the Black Sea, strong and short-term storms (50-80 km/h), and very strong and full storms (80-110 km/h) are expected.
