In the Altındağ district of Ankara, numerous dogs were found brutally killed. Animal rights activists discovered the bodies of dozens of slaughtered dogs in Altındağ. SÖZCÜ TV has uncovered new details at the scene.

Following the passage of street animal regulations in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, reports of animal massacres continue to surface. After Niğde, the bodies of many animals were found in a mass grave in Altındağ as well. Six people have been detained in connection with the incident. There are allegations that the killed dogs were beaten. SÖZCÜ TV provided the latest developments from the scene.

Animal rights advocates attempted to enter the Altındağ Municipality Veterinary Affairs Directorate, where searches were conducted with lights.

According to reports, an employee at the Directorate contacted animal rights advocates regarding the killed dogs, leading them to the scene.

13 DOGS, A CAT, AND 2 SHEEP FOUND

The search began after midnight and concluded at 4:00 AM. The bodies of 13 dogs, a cat, a puppy, and two sheep were found in the mass grave.

SOME BODIES WERE IN BAGS

Barış Yalınkılıç, a reporter for SÖZCÜ TV, who was broadcasting live from the scene, shared that “some of the bodies were found in bags, while others had only their heads covered with bags. Most of the dogs were of breeds classified as dangerous. Some dogs had ear tags, but none had microchips.”

SIX PEOPLE DETAINED

Six people have been detained in connection with the massacre.

ALLEGATIONS OF BEATING

Only seven of the 13 dogs were able to be taken for autopsy. According to animal rights advocates and veterinarians, the animals were not euthanized, and there are allegations of beating.

STATEMENT FROM ANKARA METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality issued a statement, saying, “The incident at the shelter affiliated with Altındağ Municipality is not within the jurisdiction of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. We emphasize to the public that the shelter does not belong to the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and that we will closely follow this massacre.”
