Statement by Deputy President Yılmaz: “Will the 25% Rental Increase Limit be Extended?”

Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz commented on the 25% limit on rent increases for housing. Reminding that there is time until July, Yılmaz said, “When the time approaches, an impact assessment will be made, considering the pros and cons. A decision will be made based on the direction of inflation, the trend in rents, and all other factors.”

Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz made evaluations on current issues and answered questions in a live broadcast on Habertürk.

Yılmaz emphasized that the 25% limit on rent increases for housing was a decision taken to protect and oversee tenants during inflationary periods, stating:

“The main goal, of course, is to reduce inflation and eliminate this need. Therefore, when you permanently reduce inflation, there won’t be a need for this anymore. But the decision regarding this matter has not been made yet. It is valid until the middle of this year. We have time until July. When the time approaches, an impact assessment will be made. Pros and cons will be considered. A decision will be made based on the direction of inflation, the trend in rents, and all other factors.”
