Statement from Professor Ercan: “Which cities can you live in without fear of earthquakes?

Geophysical Engineer, Professor Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan, disclosed the cities with the least earthquake risk. While tremors continue in Kahramanmaraş and its surroundings after the earthquakes on February 6, experts also draw attention to the earthquakes in Yüksekova. The long-standing earthquake concern in the Marmara region also continues. Dozens of cities on the North Anatolian and East Anatolian fault lines are experiencing similar concerns.

Professor Dr. Övgün Ahmet Ercan shared a statement explaining “which cities one can live without fear, in Turkey”. Professor Dr. Ercan stated the following in his social media post:

ERCAN LISTED NINE CITIES

– The structures that collapse first in earthquakes are the old buildings where low-income and elderly people reside. Earthquakes are not the problem of the wealthy.

– Even though there is no scientific basis, it is said that earthquakes can occur in Istanbul at any moment, and if fear is constantly spread; some people leave the city, those with money buy new houses, and the mental state of the helpless deteriorates. Who wants that?

– Those who do not want to experience the fear of earthquakes can move to Artvin, Rize, Trabzon, Giresun, Ordu, Samsun, Sinop, Kastamonu, and Zonguldak. Abundant greenery with oxygen, sea, fish, sincere friendship, safe living. What more could one ask for?
