Swedish Civil Defense Minister: “Our people need to be prepared, there might be war”
Swedish Civil Defense Minister Carl Oskar Bohlin issued a warning saying there could be war in Sweden. Bohlin spoke at the National People and Defense Conference held at the Salen military base in the Dalarna region, stating Russia should be taken seriously and emphasizing, “There could be war in Sweden, and our people need to be prepared for it.”
Bohlin pointed out that Sweden had not been involved in a war for 210 years and noted the following:
* The security situation in Europe, which was already bad, worsened further last year due to Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
* Russia’s rapid rearmament needs to be taken very seriously. Peace has been a pleasant companion for the Swedish people for about 210 years.
* However, this situation has changed today, and the security situation has deteriorated. As a responsible minister, I have to explain this reality to the Swedish people.
Bohlin mentioned that the Swedish government was working to increase defense capabilities by creating awareness that the country could enter into war and drew inspiration from Ukraine’s resistance against Russia. (SÖZCÜ)
