A short while ago President Erdogan had said, “If they want to go, let them go” addressing health workers who asked for improvement in their working conditions and considered moving abroad. An interesting development in regards was reported in Switzerland. This country announced it was looking for 15 thousand people to be employed in its health sector, nurses to be in the first place.

There is a shortage of qualified personnel in Switzerland known as one of the richest countries in the world. In addition to computer specialists, doctors, engineers and technicians, as well as specialized personnel, there is a huge deficit, especially in the health sector. Turks will be able to go to this country under certain conditions. Switzerland is looking for 15 thousand workers in the health sector, mainly nurses, and 85 thousand in the hospitality and catering sector and other fields.

HEALTH, ENGINEERING, TECHNICAL PERSONNEL

Unable to close the doctor gap, Switzerland has now started looking for nurses to work in elderly care and nurses to work in hospitals due to the aging population.

It was emphasized that while about 15 thousand medical personnel are needed and migrants from Ukraine would not be able to close this gap.

TOTAL SHORTAGE OF 85 THOUSAND SKILLED WORKERS CURRENTLY

Currently, there is a total deficit of 85 thousand skilled workers in Switzerland, and this figure is expected to increase to 365 thousand by the end of the year. The labor deficit in the hospitality and catering sectors is gradually increasing. This is due to the fact that it is not possible to work from home in these sectors, as well as the risks of frequent unemployment in crises such as corona.
