WEATHER-FORECAST-TURKEY

Winter is making its presence felt more clearly with each passing day. After a relatively calm period, the weather is now preparing to shift toward a colder and wetter pattern. According to the latest assessments shared by the Turkish State Meteorological Service, a noticeable change in weather conditions will begin across the country starting tomorrow.

With the arrival of this new system, rainfall will become more widespread, and snow will once again be on the agenda, especially in central and eastern regions over the weekend. Temperatures are expected to fall sharply and will be felt in a short time.

Cold and Rainy Weather Is Moving In

Meteorology reports that intermittent precipitation will affect mainly the northern and eastern parts of the country starting Friday. In eastern Marmara, inland parts of the Black Sea region, eastern Central Anatolia, and the northern and eastern sections of Eastern Anatolia, precipitation is expected to fall mostly as snow.

In some areas, snowfall may be locally heavy. Citizens are advised to remain cautious against possible icing and disruptions in transportation.

Temperatures Falling Below Seasonal Averages

Along with the rainy system, a significant drop in temperatures is also expected. Values currently hovering around seasonal norms are forecast to dip below average nationwide by the weekend. Cold conditions will be especially noticeable during nighttime hours.

What to Expect in Major Cities

In Turkey’s three largest cities, temperatures are expected to fall by an average of 7 to 8 degrees.

In Ankara, rain is expected on Friday, followed by a chance of snow on Saturday. Daytime temperatures will hover around 4 degrees, while nighttime values may drop to minus 2 degrees.

In Istanbul, rainy conditions will begin on Thursday. Over the weekend, daytime temperatures will fall to around 7 degrees, with nighttime lows near 3 degrees. In higher elevations, occasional sleet may be observed.

In Izmir, rainfall is expected only on Thursday. The weekend will bring partly cloudy skies, with daytime temperatures reaching around 12 degrees.

Milder Conditions in Muğla and Antalya, but Rain Persists

In Muğla, heavy rain is expected on Thursday and Friday. As rainfall retreats over the weekend, the weather will turn partly cloudy. Temperatures will generally range between 10 and 14 degrees, while higher elevations will feel noticeably cooler.

In Antalya, showers are forecast for Thursday. Rainfall is expected to decrease from Friday onward, with partly cloudy skies dominating the weekend. Temperatures in the city center will range between 15 and 18 degrees, while inland and elevated areas will be cooler.

In short, the coming days will bring a mix of cold air and precipitation. Keeping an eye on the weather forecast will be helpful when making plans.
