Tenant blows up apartment building after argument with landlord

A dispute between the landlord and the tenant decamped to the apartment. Angry with the landlord, the tenant opened the natural gas valve on the ground floor. The tenant was injured when an explosion occurred in the apartment.

Atakan B, who lives on the ground floor of a 3-storey building in Kayapa Neighborhood of Nilüfer district in the Center of Bursa argued with Hüseyin Ballı, the owner of the house where he has been living for 1 year, for reasons, not yet known. After arguing with the landlord, he opened the natural gas valves of the house where he lived. A large explosion occurred due to a gas jam in the house. Glass and doors were shattered in the apartment building, which almost turned into a battlefield. A large number of police, health, fire, Bursagaz (natural gas company) and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene.

The whole neighborhood came out onto the street

When the natural gas exploded with a big noise, the residents of the neighborhood poured into the street in a panic. The tenant was injured by burning due to the explosion. Paramedics who arrived at the scene took the injured tenant to Bursa City Hospital after the first intervention

“I wanted to turn off the valve, but the tenant ripped off the handle,” landlord Hüseyin Ballı said, “He turned on the natural gas from the inside. I tried to turn off the valve, but he ripped off his arm. As soon as we got outside, there was a bang sound and it exploded. He did it consciously. It was all over the place. He escaped after the explosion. There was a pregnant woman on the top floor. Fortunately, she was not at home. Maybe she could have miscarried her baby.”

Homeowners who received the news broke down in tears at the scene.
