The Basilica Cistern is opening for visits
The Basilica Cistern, the restoration of which has been completed by IBB (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality), is opening for visits. The opening of the historical building will be held tomorrow evening with the participation of CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and IBB Chairman Ekrem Imamoğlu.
Restoration work has been completed on the historical Basilica Cistern, which is owned by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB).
The 1500-year-old Basilica Cistern, one of the symbols of Istanbul, built by the Byzantine Empire, will meet with Istanbulites starting from the weekend in its renovated form.
The distance between the cistern and the visitors was shortened and the depth of the structure was increased in the historical structure that was made earthquake resistant as part of the restoration works.
