The foreign trade deficit of Turkey increased by 49.47 percent in May

According to the unofficial temporary foreign trade data of the Ministry of Customs and Trade, exports in May were 13 billion 224 million dollars and imports were 20 billion 878 million dollars.

The Ministry published a bulletin covering temporary data on foreign trade and companies for May.

According to this, compared to the same month last year, exports increased by 9.49 percent to 13 billion 224 million dollars. Imports, on the other hand, increased by 21.39 percent to 20 billion 878 million dollars. Foreign trade volume increased by 16.48 percent in this period and was recorded as 34 billion 101 million dollars.

In this period, the foreign trade deficit increased by 49.47 percent to 7 billion 654 million dollars.

Import coverage ratio accrued as 63.3 percent. This rate was 70.2 percent as compared to the same month last year.

According to unofficial foreign trade data of the Ministry of Customs and Trade, the most exported chapter in May was “motor vehicles, tractors, bicycles, motorcycles and other land vehicles” with 2 billion 170 million dollars.

The most importing chapter in May was “mineral fuels, mineral oils and their distillation products” with 2 billion 877 million dollars.
