Wind energy tops electricity production for the first time

WIND POWER IN TURKEY

For the first time in electricity generation in Turkey yesterday, wind power plants took the first place. According to the data of the Turkish Electricity Transmission Association, the share of wind power plants which took the first place in production yesterday, was 22.6 percent in production.

This was followed by natural gas power plants with 22 percent and imported coal power plants with 17.7 percent.

From what sources does Turkey get its electricity?

As of October 2021, the installed capacity of Turkey is 99 thousand megawatts.

HPP power plants have an installed capacity of 31 thousand 447 megawatts, natural gas cycle power plants 25 thousand 531 megawatts, coal power plants 20 thousand 321 megawatts, wind power plants 10 thousand 252 megawatts, solar power plants 7 thousand 658 megawatts, geothermal has an installed capacity of 1651 megawatts.
