BULGARIAN TOURISTS COME TO SHOP IN EDIRNE

Due to the rise in the exchange rate, tourists continue to flock to Edirne from Bulgaria. Bulgarian tourists who came to shop with the upcoming New Year’s holiday have filled the hotels.

A representative of the Turkish Hoteliers Association in Edirne said that there was a heavy influx of Bulgarian tourists an added “We have a total of 2,500 beds in hotels in Edirne. All of them are already booked by Bulgarian tourists.”

Stating that the hotels were full until the New Year, a hotel operator said, “Ours and other hotels are full until the New Year. Our hotels are 100 percent full in Edirne. There are a lot of people who come from Bulgaria for Christmas shopping, and that’s why they come and stay in the city and return to their country after their shopping. I have hotels in Bulgaria and I do business there. When I talk to Bulgarian citizens there, they say, ‘we are going shopping’. They fill up all their luggage with stuff they shop in Edirne.”

Bulgarian tourists have also made reservations for New Year’s entertainment in entertainment centers in order to enter the new year in Edirne.
