The Lancet says Coronavac results in Turkey are 83.5 percent effective

One of the world’s oldest medical journals, The Lancet, published the results of a phase 3 study of the CoronaVac vaccine developed by China-based Sinovac, in Turkey announcing that the vaccine is 83.5 percent effective against Covid-19.

In data published on the webpage of the magazine included names of many Turkish doctors, as well. It said “10,218 volunteers had participated in studies performed on those between the ages of 18 and 59.

In Phase 3 studies, among those that received CoronaVac vaccine and placebo 2. the first case of Covid-19 was identified after 14 days, with a total of 41 cases recorded. The Lancet reported that 9 of the cases identified in the studies were those who received a double dose of the CoronaVac vaccine, while 32 people were in the placebo group.

100 PER CENT IN HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS

None of the volunteers infected by Covid-19 died, and 6 people from the placebo group were hospitalized, the magazine said, noting that none of the cases in the CoronaVac group were hospitalized. In light of these recorded data, doctors reported that the CoronaVac vaccine was 83.5 percent effective against Covid-19, The Lancet also stressed that the CoronaVac vaccine protected 100 percent against hospitalization caused by Covid-19.
