The legend is back: The THK planes, which some were making fun of, start flying again

The fire-fighting aircraft of the THK which the AKP government referred to as “All scrap”, were winged in Etimesgut. The THK aircraft, which the SOZCU newspaper has been persistently raising for 3 years, saying that “Domestic and national resources are rotting in the hangar,” displayed a show over the capital. 4 THK aircraft will begin a mission to combat forest fires on July 1.

For 3 years, Turkey has been forced to fight forest fires from the air either without aircraft or with an insufficient number of aircraft. Last year alone, a forest area as large as 250 thousand football fields burned down in Turkey. THK aircraft were not allowed to participate in the tender opened for protection against forest fires in the country (due to specification of 5,000 liters of water capacity)

SOZCU newspaper had made news sayin, “THK planes are kept in the hangar while the forests are burning. Billions are being poured into foreigners while there are domestic and national resources”. Upon growing reactions from all sections of society 4 of the THK aircraft were taken into care and renovated.

Yesterday was an important day at Etimesgut Airport. The aircraft, which were completed by experienced engineers of THK Teknik and successfully passed the tests of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, began flying for refresher training of pilots in the hangars of the Turkish Aviation Authority. TUSAŞ also made important contributions in the maintenance process.
