Ministry bans currency exchange in hotels
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance has banned currency exchange transactions in hotels. According to the decision announced to the hotels in a letter, it was stated that foreign currency exchange transactions would not be made for the expenses of the guests in the hotels.
It is suggested that the Ministry of Treasury and Finance took the decision due to the fact that some hotels began to work like a currency exchange office.
Stating that it is not possible to apply the decision hotels say, “Where will the tourists who come to the hotel change currency when they want to do so. What will they do when they need Turkish money?”

We have checked the accuracy of concerned news.
It is real and this instruction was sent by the Ministry to Hotel Association.
However, an offical (working for such association) says top officials representing the sector are negotiating/explaining the situation to officials of Finance Ministry trying to persuade and make them see that such practice is absolutely not applicable and the Ministry should withdraw (quit) concerned decision.
