Number of electric vehicles in Turkey increases by five fold

The share of electric vehicles in the automotive market in Turkey is rapidly increasing, having multiplied several times over. With the introduction of the domestic electric car brand Togg and Tesla on Turkish roads, interest in electric vehicles has surged even further.

According to information provided by Futureflowlife and conveyed by the Turkish Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Association (TEHAD), the number of electric vehicles reached 72,179 in 2023. This represents a 496% increase in sales, influenced by the entry of Togg and Tesla into the market in 2023.

NUMBER OF CHARGING STATIONS INCREASE RAPIDLY

According to data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), 14,552 electric cars were sold in Turkey in 2022. Volkan Demir, the General Coordinator of Elaris, stated that the demand for electric vehicles in Turkey has accelerated infrastructure work for charging networks and investment in charging stations. He emphasized that the number of charging stations in Turkey has increased by 185%.

According to the 2023 data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD), Togg sold 19,583 vehicles throughout 2023. In contrast, Tesla delivered 12,150 units during the same period.
