Those who think they have paid too much for electricity bill! Excessive part will be returned

With the announcement from the Energy Market Regulatory Board, the citizens who thought that the electricity bill was too much had a sigh of relief. Money will be refunded to those whose electricity bills were calculated from a high tariff intentionally or unintentionally. EMRA Chairman said that they had seen irregularities, committed, adding that a portion of up to 1 billion liras from 40 companies had been withdrawn and payments would be sent to citizens’ accounts within this framework.

While citizens have been complaining about high figures in incoming electricity bills for some time, EMRA President explained the reason for the high incoming bill. The EMRA found that 40 companies intentionally or unknowingly had reflected extra charges due to incorrect electricity bill calculation. EMRA, which started its studies, also announced the process of refunding the extra paid fees.

HOW WILL THE ELECTRICITY BILL EXTRA PAYMENTS BE REFUNDED?

Answering the criticisms on the agenda related to the electricity bill, EMRA Chairman Mustafa Chairman said that the refund of excess amounts in electricity bills would not be made in cash, but reflected in the next electricity bill.

While it was learned that steps were taken to compensate for the extra fees in the upcoming invoices, EMRA President stated that there was no political benefits related to the return of the collected money, and it was not done to look cute to anyone.

Yılmaz, who made evaluations about the payback process related to the invoices, said, “Most of the companies have started the payback process. A week after the notification of our decision, a part of the amount approaching 1 billion liras was collected.
