Lavrov: if U.S. continues to escalate tensions, we are ready to take new measures

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said Moscow is ready to take new measures if Washington continues to escalate tensions.

Lavrov who was a guest of a program broadcast on Rossiya 1 television, discussed recent developments in relations between Russia and the United States.

He said, “Everything has been said in our response to the recent hostile steps of the United States. We have announced all the measures we have taken and are ready to take new ones if they continue to escalate tensions.”

Biden’s offer to meet with Putin received positively

Meanwhile, Lavrov said that US President Joe Biden’s offer to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin had been received positively and that work was being carried out on this possibility.

Lavrov said, “I mentioned President Biden’s offer to meet at the direction of President Putin. This proposal has been positively received and is currently under review,” he said.
