OPPOSITION PARTIES TURKEY

A short while ago, 6 opposition parties came together to join forces against the practices of the current government and in the election, initiating a formation called “6 party table”. This formation was especially initiated and formed under the leadership of the CHP and the GOOD PARTY.

Within the framework of this formation, most important issues such as “the question of who should be the joint president candidate to be supported by this group against current coalition in power” and other related issues about deputies to be elected in election to come in 2023 latest are to be discussed, as well.

Accordingly 6 party table is meeting again on 24 April 2022 to make very important decisions about regarding issues. We are sharing down below important excerpts from an important article written about what issues will be raised and what will be discussed at this meeting.

The name of the presidential candidate will be the subject of the iftar table, which will be established by six parties on April 24. This meeting is also important because it comes after a crisis experienced among members of said table. This meeting will be a test for the six table, as well.

WHAT WILL BE DISCUSSED ON THE EVENING OF APRIL 24?
(Excerpt from: birgun.net/haber/6-li-masanin-krize-karsi-guc-testi-384919 by Yaşar Aydın)

The first clear move of the National Alliance against legal regulation made by the ruling alliance is expected to come after the 6th meeting hosted by the Chairman of the Democratic Party Gültekin Uysal on Sunday April 24. At the meeting, to be held in the form of an iftar dinner, the topics that will come to the table have begun to become clear.

Draft for parliamentary regime

It stands as the most easily handled title for six parties. It will be ensured that a new team will be formed that will work on making the final changes to the resulting text and making it part of the selection program at the same time. The article, in which even the names that the parties will propose to the team are obvious, does not bother any leader’s head.

Presidential nomination

According to the information received from the backstage, the 6 parties will now start talking about this issue together. We are saying “together” because there have been preliminary talks at the level of leaders such as the CHP-GOOD Party and the CHP-SP before. After these preliminary negotiations, CHP Chairman KILICDAROGLU stepped up his gear on the presidential candidacy and landed on the fields more clearly. His presidential campaign, which has been going on continuously for three months with six parties, is not expected to be on the table. But it will not be a surprise for other alternatives to be pronounced. The meeting will be particularly interesting after the statement “The nominee to be determined should not have been a partner in responsibility during the 20-year AKP term” voiced by DP Chairman Uysal used when sorting out the criteria for the presidential candidate as Davutoğlu, Future Party Leader and BABACAN, leader of DEVA Party both held important positions in AK Party administrations earlier – and both members of “6 Party Table”, now.

The reaction of the staffs of both the Future and Deva Party, on said message inserted above seems to rather strong. In particular, it seems that the Deva Party is looking for another alternative than CHP leader or another name rather than someone from the CHP.

Undoubtedly, the name of the presidential candidate will not be announced at this meeting. But perhaps this is the first time there will be a discussion over names in such an open way.

The topic of parliament (deputy election) is even more confusing

With the change of the law, the plans of the National Alliance have changed. When it was aimed that the National Alliance would be expanded to 6 parties and enter the election under this name, now all parties may consider entering under their own names. But because of the 7 percent threshold, it is said that the leaders are focusing on a structure divided into three. That is the CHP on its own, the GOOD Party-Democratic Party alliance and finally the Deva-Felicity and Future alliance.

SIX PARTIES ARE HAVING THEIR FIRST CRISIS

For the first time, 6 parties that have been working together for about six months are experiencing a serious crisis. Moreover, they have problems with both the presidential candidacy and the parliamentary elections in front of them.

The April 24 meeting will also be important for measuring the resistance of the prospective alliance to crises. It will be much easier to overcome other problems, especially if members of the 6 party table manage to overcome the problem of the presidential candidacy and a compromise is reached both on the single candidate and on the nature of the candidate.
