No “good news” for pensioners regarding increase in holiday bonus payments
Minister Bilgin said that EYTS were not on the agenda and the holiday bonus for retirees and the minimum wage would not be increased, disappointing about 14 million retirees. And the reaction from concerned group came immediately: “if there is no step back, we will meet at the ballot box.”
The announcement of the good news that millions of pensioners and wage earners were eagerly waiting for from the Minister of Labor and Social Policies did not come. Bilgin announced that the bonus increase expected by 13.6 million pensioners who are trying to make a living with salaries below the hunger limit has been a dream. Noting that there will be no additional increase to the minimum wage, Bilgin also reported that there had been no study for those who are “stuck on age in retirement (EYT)”.
Bilgin explained that the bonus payable to the pensioner on the holiday was set at 1100 TL this year, as it was last year, and said bonuses would be paid on April 28-29.

Minister Bilgin, who made statements in a TV program in which he participated, said:“There is no update on the minimum wage in accordance with inflation on the agenda. We should not slip into populist demands. We are realists” he said.
