Travel Turkey: Istanbul Airport becomes the busiest airport in Europe

According to the data transferred from the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (EUROCONTROL) by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SGHM), Istanbul Airport became the busiest airport in Europe with an average of 1,312 flights per day between February 26 and March 3.

Following Istanbul Airport were London Heathrow Airport with an average of 1,283 flights per day, Amsterdam Airport with 1,266 flights, Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport with 1,169 flights, and Frankfurt Airport with 1,131 flights.

The airline with the highest number of flights during this period was Ryanair, with an average of 2,280 flights per day, followed by EasyJet with 1,362 flights in second place, and Turkish Airlines (THY) with 1,328 flights in third place. THY was followed by Lufthansa with 1,111 flights and Air France with 898 flights.

Among the countries with the busiest air traffic, Turkey ranked sixth with an average of 2,441 flights per day.
