TOKİ 2025 Social Housing Project: 500,000 New Homes Across 81 Provinces

A Historic Housing Campaign Begins

Turkey is preparing to launch one of the largest social housing projects in its history. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that through the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, 500,000 new social housing units will be built across all 81 provinces under the coordination of TOKİ, the Housing Development Administration.

The project aims to provide affordable homes for families in need while also strengthening housing security against disaster risks. Special quotas will be reserved for the families of martyrs and veterans, retirees, young people, and families with three children. For the first time, TOKİ will also introduce a rental housing model, offering part of the new units at low rents to support low-income households.

Affordable Housing for Every Province

This new campaign follows the massive reconstruction program in the earthquake-hit regions, where 304,000 homes have already been delivered and the total target of 453,000 disaster-resistant residences is close to completion. Building on that experience, Turkey is now moving forward with a nationwide housing mobilization.

The 2025 social housing initiative, described as the “housing project of the century,” will make it easier for citizens in all provinces to access safe and affordable homes. The details of the campaign, including application dates, will be announced soon by TOKİ. In Istanbul, rental units will be introduced for the first time as part of this landmark effort.
