Top 20 exporters list of Turkey announced by Turkish Exporters Association
According to the Top 1000 Exporter Company-2016 survey prepared by the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), FORD OTOMOTİV ranked number one on the list for top exporters of Turkey with US$ 3,9 billion followed by TOFAŞ (Turkish Automobile Factories) with US$ 3,1 billion and Oyak-Renault (Automobile Factories) with US$ 2.8 billion The total exports of the companies decreased by 1.13 percent last year to 81.4 billion dollars while the automotive sector was the leader with 27.2 percent share and Istanbul took the lead with 434 companies, among all cities.
While the export revenue from Germany, which is the largest foreign importing country from Turkey, increased by 4.3 percent to 14 billion dollars, the biggest drop in exports among the top 10 countries was observed with Iraq.
The chairperson of said association commented that there were ten companies on the list for “companies exceeding US$ 1 billion limit”. As announced before Turkey aims to achieve the target of “50 companies with over 1 billion dollars export turnover” by 2023. To accomplish this mission the country needs to export products with high added value which cannot be done without investing more in R & D, innovation, design and branding.
According to data provided by TIM, the total export value of the firms decreased by 1.13 percent last down to 81.4 billion dollars last year, while its share in total exports became 57.3 percent.
48.8 percent of the total exports was achieved by the first 500 firms while the second 500 firms realized 8.5 percent of the total exports.
Export income from Germany, the country with the highest importation figures from Turkey for years, increased by 4.3 percent to 14 billion dollars. The most shrinking one among the top 10 export markets was Iraq, due to the tensions in the Middle East. The EU took the first place with a figure of 68.3 billion dollars in exports, in “country groups” classification.
