Tornado turns some places in Bodrum into battlefield

In BODRUM, a tornado that struck from the sea turned the area into a battlefield. A woman had to hide behind vehicles to survive not to get caught walking by a tornado flying things in the air.

Meteorology General Directorate had warned the spots in the south were expected to experience storm and strong rainfall. Indeed BODRUM which is  one of the most popular towns in the region to face this situation. The heavy rain was effective at intervals in the town.

There was a tornado shock at Turgutreis and Akyarlar locations of Bodrum, as well. In the evening hours today, a tornado that hit the town off the coast of Turgutreis turned the area into battlefield.

The tornado threw a few meters long boat 10 meters up in the air and then onto the shore and also tables and chairs flew up in the air and into the sea.

A woman was caught while walking on the road, and dragged by the tornado. Thanks God, she managed to hide between two parked vehicles to survive the violent storm.

She explained they were caught in the tornado and added “We thought a helicopter was landing. We didn’t even get a chance to escape. We stayed in the tornado. It just came. It lasted 45-50 seconds. Chairs hit our legs. Thanks God it did not last long. Otherwise we would have been in trouble. I’ve seen many tornadoes but I was never caught this way. We were right in the heart”.
