Turkey’s Meteorology gives red code warning for Antalya for the first time in the country
Turkey’s General Directorate of Meteorology has started a color-coded system to inform citizens about weather developments in the country. Meteorology officials in Antalya made explanations about the new system for citizens to understand the meteorological warnings to be implemented in the period ahead.
According to the new system green, yellow, orange and red colors are used to inform citizens about the strength of the impact of the meteorological event to come. The statement made by the officials said green pointed to lightest impact whereas red was used to indicate strongest impact.
Meteorology , for the first time in Turkey Antalya “code red” gave the alarm. Antalya Meteorology Regional Director Davut Ozturk, the red code shows very dangerous meteorological incident, he said. All permits have been canceled in Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and AFAD.
Within this framework, the Meteorology Directorate of Antalya gave “red code” alarm for Antalya to be the first in Turkey, for the coming days. Based on this warning all permits at Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and AFAD were canceled.
The officials warned that torrential rain was forecasted start on Wednesday morning with strong impact at Antalya Central and around Serik, Kemer, Kumluca and Finike circles. The expected rainfall until Thursday noon would be around 100-250 kilogram.
