Environmentalists stop the construction of Sea Turtles Care Center Hospital at Iztuzu

The environmentalists who opposed the construction of the Sea Turtles Care Center Hospital in İztuzu Beach in Ortaca District of Muğla win their fight against the Ministry.

The Ministry of Environment and Urbanization made a statement regarding the project it wants to realize on the world-famous Iztuzu Beach in Köyceğiz-Dalyan which is a special Environmental Protection Area. The Ministry said the construction does not necessarily have to be in the area where DEKAMER campus is located.

 İKUP spokesperson Murat Demirci said, “It is a positive step that the Ministry has taken the reactions into consideration and opens the door to solutions other than Iztuzu. Although we find this important, we should be cautious.”

The Ministry had decided to build facilities in concerned area and the members of the Iztuzu Beach Rescue Platform (İKUP) and Muğla Environment Platform (MUÇEP), together with the members of Muğla, had protested against the project and taken actions.
