Torture at animal shelter draws strong negative reaction

An employee at the Animal Rehabilitation Center in Konya caused the death of a dog by hitting it with a shovel. Two people who were detained and sent to the courthouse were arrested as part of the investigation initiated regarding the images that attracted a reaction. It was learned that the Director of the Animal Health Branch of the Center and a veterinarian were suspended and the employment contract of the workers who were there at the time of the incident was terminated.

In the statement made on the social media account of the Konya Metropolitan Municipality on the subject, it was stated that an investigation had been initiated and the following statements were included: A disciplinary investigation has been started on the director of Environmental Protection and Control Department of animal health. Respective measures have been taken and the branch manager has been dismissed. Termination of employment of the workers involved in the incident, has been put into effect. Moreover, a criminal complaint has been made to the public prosecutor’s office regarding the incident.
