VIROLENS COVID 19 TEST RESULTS IN 20 SECONDS

A rapid corona virus test has been developed in the UK to help return life to normal. A test using the swab test method determines whether it is positive or negative within 20 seconds. The system is expected to be used at airports and mass events.

The corona virus which emerged in China in December 2019, continues to rapidly take lives as it drags the world into an insurmountable crisis. Countries are tightening measures amid third-wave concern, while trying to step up vaccination campaigns to end the outbreak. For more than 1 year, many sectors, from the economy to the world of sports, arts and entertainment, have been hit hard by the epidemic. Sports stadiums and concert venues were left empty as millions of people moved to a working model called “from home”.

iAbra and TT Electronics, two companies working on rapid testing systems, have developed a swab test that detects if someone has corona virus, within 20 seconds. The test called the Virolens determines within seconds whether the swab taken from the person is positive or negative. Said test was tried with a pilot application at Heathrow Airport in London.

TEST GETS UK APPROVAL

The approval of the UK Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) for the test in question has caused great excitement. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also expressed his happiness at the development, saying that this test which would be used at airports and before events, could help return life to normal.

PRODUCTION ACCELERATED AFTER APPROVAL

Following the MHRA’s approval, the two companies announced that the test would be widely rolled out in the coming months as they stepped up their work on large-scale production. iAbra and TT Electronics suggested that the test had a 1.9 percent chance of giving a false negative result and a 0.3 percent chance of giving a false positive.
