Tourism in Turkey: Visitor record broken in seven months

In 2023, Turkey hosted 30,093,446 visitors in the first 7 months. Out of these visitors, 26,766,240 were foreigners, and 3,327,206 were citizens residing abroad. This visitor number surpassed the previous record of 26,524,000 set in 2019. Compared to the same period of the previous year, there was a 16.22% increase in the number of foreign visitors coming to Turkey from January to July.

In the ranking of countries sending the highest number of visitors to Turkey, the Russian Federation was in the first place with 3,498,614 visitors, marking a 59.22% increase compared to the same period of the previous year.

Germany was in the second place with a 7.32% increase and 3,211,724 visitors, followed by the United Kingdom with a 14% increase and 2,063,740 visitors. These countries were followed by Bulgaria and Iran.

With 30,093,446 visitors hosted during this period, Turkey broke the previous record of 26,524,000 visitors set in 2019.

7.1 MILLION FOREIGN VISITORS IN JULY

In July, the number of foreign visitors to Turkey reached 7,148,044, marking a 7.25% increase compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the ranking of countries sending the most visitors to Turkey in July, Germany was in the first place with 941,597 visitors, experiencing a 2.12% decrease compared to the same month of the previous year. The Russian Federation was in the second place with 884,585 visitors, reflecting a 19.31% increase, followed by the United Kingdom in the third place with 574,436 visitors, showing a 5.21% increase. Poland and Bulgaria followed in the ranking.
